After a good deal of speculation and confusion, the original members of Hot Boys will reunite at Lil Wayne's WeezyAna Festival on November 2, at New Orleans' Smoothie King Center.
Wayne made the announcement today, Tuesday, September 3, tweeting, "Lil’ Weezyana Fest is BACK baby! 🔥 Meet me for A Hot Boyz Reunion in New Orleans 11/2 at Smoothie King Center! Pre-sale starts at 12PM CT on http://LILWEEZYANAFEST.COM."
Besides Wayne, Hot Boys consist of Turk, Juvenile, and B.G., and they haven't been on stage in at least 15 years, nor have they released a project since 2003's Let 'Em Burn. But in May of this year, fans lost it after Juvenile said they're working on a new LP and would reunite at Essence Festival, which took place in July.
But the reunion didn't happen, because Wayne performed his own set, separate from Birdman, Mannie Fresh, Juvenile and B.G., who performed together. The "A Milli" rapper later addressed his absence on Instagram Live and gave a roundabout explanation.
"Funny story," he began. "I got hit up by somebody, somebody text me. I guess they had been at the show too long or something and they said, 'You wrong. You know you should have came out. You wrong, Wayne. You had all these f******g fans out here. You didn’t come. You know you should have' ... I’m like, 'What you talking about? The afterparty or something?'"
But now, the reunion is official and it should be one of the most talked about moments in hip-hop this year. Mannie Fresh will also be present and is scheduled to perform a DJ set. "All we waitin' on now is thee .. album .. ?! great start thoo !!" someone tweeted after Wayne announced the reunion. "I might cry at this concert," another person wrote.
