Top Dawg Entertainment's Doechii released her much-talked-about mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal on August 30, and it has the label's founder Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith reminiscing about TDE's early days. He recently posted a message about the project and wrote that it reminds him of Kendrick Lamar's 2011 album Section.80.

"@doechii 'Alligator Bites Never Heal' out now !!" wrote Tiffith on Instagram. "What are your thoughts & standouts so far ? I have the same feeling I had when KDOT dropped Section 80. She’s 1 of those ones 4sho !!!! #TDE20 #TimelessClassicMusic."

Jointly released by TDE and Universal Music Group, Alligator Bites Never Heal is a 19-song offering with the only guest feature being the rapper Kuntfetish. The project is also pretty genre-bending since it mixes East coast style boom bap rap with house music. Doechii talked about her desire to meld various sounds in an interview with Hypebeast, saying it's what got Tiffith and UMG's attention.

"I believe that curiosity and courage play the biggest role in my artistry," she explained. "I’m very curious, but I also have the courage to fulfill those curiosities and experiment with things. Those two things are the reasons why I got signed."

"I’m experimenting with what I call 'editorial rap' right now," Doechii continued. "It’s like house music meets rage and rap. I’m still figuring it out. It’s like if rap was high fashion, what would it sound like? – that’s editorial rap."

Meanwhile, underneath Tiffith's post, many said they love Alligator Bites Never Heal and called Doechii one of the most talented and unique artists out today.

One person wrote, "She’s different.. she’s going to be around for a while." Another stated, "I promise I didn’t even think about touching the skip." Plus, one Doechii fan called her the "Best female rapper out."
