Tyler, The Creator gave his fans a huge gift this past Christmas: A freestyle over Kendrick Lamar's "Hey Now" beat that he titled "That Guy."

The video instantly racked up millions of views, and many praised the freestyle. A lot of people also said kind things about the video, which shows Tyler hanging out with Odd Future members Jasper Dolphin, Lionel "L-Boy" Boyce, and Travis "Taco" Bennett.

But there were some who had negative things to say about the freestyle, something that Tyler addressed during a new interview with Nardwuar.

"I saw someone say, 'How Tyler just gonna take Kendrick’s song right after it comes out and do the same flow over the same beat,'" said Tyler. "And I’m like, 'D**n, that’s somebody else who did not grow up listening to rap or hip-hop.' ‘Cause if you grew up listening to rap or hip-hop, you know that’s normal… You should have to do a survey and show your ID before you could say s**t on the internet, ’cause folks be saying dumb s**t."

The Hawthorne, California native also came down on the artists who don't truly love hip-hop and use it just to make money. It's not the first time that Tyler defended the culture that he loves, so it's obvious this is a topic that is near and dear to his heart.

"I am rap. I am hip-hop," he told Nardwuar. "That’s all I know. It’s in the house. Some of these folks look at this like a quick money-getting thing… Y’all ain’t grow up the same .. We the coolest ever, and all these motherf*****s wanna copy us."
