IFPI, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, recently released the Global Recording Artist Chart 2024. Three rappers secured spots in the top 10 of the list. Drake was named, and he's been crowned the highest-selling male artist in the world, landing at number two, only behind Taylor Swift.

Eminem, who had a terrific 2024 with his The Death of Slim Shady album, is the second rapper on the list and he's ranked number eighth overall. Kendrick Lamar is right behind him at number nine and is making his return to the list after being on it in 2022.

Lamar clearly had the best year of his career last year, so maybe his accomplishment didn’t mean as much to his fans. Or maybe, the fact that he’s still behind two rappers despite having a dream run in hip-hop doesn’t sit well with them. Regardless, the fans of the other two rappers are elated to see their favorites represent hip-hop on the global rankings.

As one Eminem fan stated, “Critics, rap/ music publications and awards shows can ignore him all they want but Eminem’s popularity with the people never wanes."

Another fan of the “Rap God” wrote that even though he’s been in the industry for nearly three decades, Em is showing no signs of slowing down. “Bro is 26 + years into his career.. THE GOAT," that person wrote.

Plus, one fan quoted Em’s lyrics from his 2018 song “Fall” from Kamikaze to celebrate his accomplishment. The fan wrote, '"I was here before you and I’ll be here after you’ … he wasn’t lying. That’s my GOAT.”

Drake fans are just as excited about him being the highest-selling male artist, even though he didn’t release an album in 2024. One fan stated that despite enduring a “hate train” last year, the Canadian superstar still had the last laugh. “Imagine going through a massive hate train and still being #2 best-selling artist. oh Drake you will always be famous.”

Another fan quoted lyrics from the recently released “GIMME A HUG.” “Drake elimination, fake intimidation / Take a minute, take a deep breath, have a little bit of patience / Drizzy, you amazin', you the inspiration / You set the bar for the next generation / You Neo in the matrix, these n----s just Nemo in the ocean.”

There was also a fan who outlined how Lamar got outsold by Eminem in what is deemed to be the biggest year of his career so far.

Two other hip-hop artists have secured spots in the top 20 list. Travis Scott is ranked 15, followed by Kanye West at number 16.
