Before Diddy's sex trafficking arrest took over hip-hop media, Kendrick Lamar playing Super Bowl LIX was all the talk. Last week the Compton rhymer announced on Instagram that he'd be playing the halftime show at the game, but many said it should be Lil Wayne since it'll take place in his home town of New Orleans.

The latest rapper to speak about the controversy is Snoop Dogg after people like Cam'ron, Boosie Badazz, Nicki Minaj, and Birdman said they wanted Wayne to get the job. A lot of people also blamed Jay-Z since he makes the final call on who's performing.

"I don’t really have no opinion, but what I do wanna say is, just remember where the NFL was 15 years ago when it comes to hip-hop," said Snoop on Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco’s Nightcap show. "How many hip-hop artists was able to grace that stage 15 years ago? So, I understand both sides of the coin, and I understand how people feel."

“[But] I have no answer, no opinion, because I had the opportunity to get up there via Dr. Dre," he added. "I didn’t do any Snoop Dogg songs. I was up there helping Dr. Dre and it became a great moment for all of us."

Last week Lil Wayne broke his silence about not playing the halftime show and admitted that it pretty much broke him. Mainly, because he assumed Jay-Z would pick him.

"First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay," he said. "I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking. I’ma say thank you to every voice, every opinion, all the care, love and support out there. Your words turned into arms and held me up when I tried to fall back."

"That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about? It hurt a whole lot," Wayne continued. "I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown, and for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that. But I thought that was nothing better than that spot and that stage and that platform in my city, so it hurt. It hurt a whole lot."
