New Music: Young Thug – “The Blanguage”

Young Thug has steady been releasing music since his 2013 hits “Stoner” and “Danny Glover,” and is set to have a big year after telling Mass Appeal that he’s signed with Cash Money Records. He’s got an upcoming album with his former labelhead Gucci Mane called Young Thugga Mane LaFlare coming out on April 1. He said his next solo album is going to be named Tha Carter VI – the craziest, most next-level move after Lil Wayne finishes his quintet series this year – and has talked about working with Kanye West and Lil Wayne. His upcoming single is called “Ew Ew Ew,” which he previewed in a radio interview with Hot 107.9 and is, according to Birdman, featuring Drake. He may very well take over rap in 2014.

Today he dropped a remix to “The Language,” the single off Drake’s platinum Nothing Was the Same, called “The Blanguage” with Atlanta producer Metro Boomin. The song dips the original Boi-1da beat in syrup and pulls it apart piece by piece until it reveals itself as a crazed piano ballad. Thugga starts off rapping in the same flow Drake used to say, “I fucked her then washed off my dick with the curtains inside of the Phantom,” and then wanders off into his more unhinged elemental style. It’s a monster and it rearranges my insides. Young Thug and Metro Boomin’s joint album Metro Thuggin is due out this Spring.
