After just yesterday announcing that he would be dropping two new projects on April 1, Gucci Mane released the first song off the more anticipated of the two, Young Thugga Mane LaFlare with Atlanta up-and-comer Young Thug. The song “Hot Boys Intro” is named after the second generation Cash Money group featuring a young Lil Wayne and Juvenile. It’s also weird right away because Gucci says, “Free my n***a Turk/He out now/Shout out to the Hot Boys,” while the fourth member of the group B.G., as well as Gucci himself, are currently behind bars.
Gucci raps about his Rolex and with a stuffed-up nose over a pulsing synth beat that swings like the back door of a club open and shut. He also mentions that people call him different names depending on the texture of his car’s roof. Young Thug sings about needing no roof, and talks about Cash Money without really referencing the Hot Boys, at least besides the unrelated movie. He mentions riding in a Benz with Slim and how much his teeth cost. Thug also exclaims, “Free my n***a Lil Boosie,” who was set to be released yesterday before he was freed on March 5, and the line, “Last year I was screaming ‘Free Tunechi’/Now I’m in the Hit Factory with Lil Tunechi.” Maybe Young Thug is secretly signed to Cash Money or still with Brick Squad. Or possibly tricking everybody and never singing to a label.
