Lunchtime links: Elton John, Redman, and ScHoolboy Q

We know you’re probably busy frantically filling out your March Madness bracket — personally, I’m going against the experts and picking Insanity to upset Paranoia in the first round — but why not take a few minutes out of your lunch hour to catch up on today’s hip hop news? Sure, you don’t have a shot at winning $1 billion with our “Lunchtime Links” program, but you don’t really have a shot at winning Warren Buffet’s challenge, either.

  • In a recent interview with MTV, Redman announced he’s already crafted the story board and plot summary for How High 2. If Yvette Henderson shows up again, count me in.
  • Elton John told Andy Greene of Rolling Stone that he’s interested in making hip hop records, particularly with people like Kanye and Pharrell. Sure, I love ‘Ye and Skateboard P as much as the next guy, but I kinda had my heart set on a collaborative album between Elton John and Beanie Sigel (titled Beanie and the Jets, obviously).
  • It turns out ScHoolboy Q isn’t a big fan of SXSW, telling the AP he thinks the event has become too corporatized. Amen to that, I say. I remember back when South By Southwest was just a bunch of dyslexic and directionally-challenged filmmakers trying to recreate Alfred Hitchcock movies.
