Apollo Brown releases "The Answer" off 'Thirty Eight'

If you need a bit of boost to help make it through your Wednesday, Detroit’s Apollo Brown is here to help you out.

The talented producer released the single “The Answer” this week, and — news flash! — it’s great. The track is slated to appear on the upcoming album Thirty Eight, which will be Brown’s first instrumental project since the beautiful Clouds came out in 2011.

But enough chitchat. Let’s delve into the new music:

After having collaborated with rappers on his last few releases, it’s exciting to see Brown return to doing instrumental projects. To take nothing away from O.C. (who worked with Brown on 2012’s Trophies), Guilty Simpson (who released Dice Game with Brown, also in 2012), and Ghostface Killah (whose album Twelve Reasons to Die Brown remixed last year to create The Brown Tape), there’s just something special about Brown’s smooth beats being allowed room to breathe sans vocals. That said, Roc Marciano is slated to appear on two of Thirty Eight‘s tracks, which is guaranteed to be all sorts of awesome.

Thirty Eight is scheduled to come out May 6.
