When I first heard this song, I thought about this:
I can’t help it. That game helped shape my childhood (and my writing goals, to an extent), and that was the song that came on every time you’d hit the menu.
But when I heard it a few more times, and read up on the song’s history, I came to realize how big of a classic the song really is. Not just because of the classic jazz beat that was put together by Pete Rock, but the song as a whole. The song was inspired by the death of friend Troy Dixon (who was known by his fans as “Trouble” T. Roy of Heavy D & the Boyz), who passed away in 1990.
