A$AP Ferg – Tatted Angel (A$AP Yams Tribute)

A$AP Ferg is back with his first release in over a year with a single entitled, “Tatted Angel.” Tatted Angel is an ode an tribute to his fallen brother, partner, friend, and original co-founder of the A$AP Mob A$AP Yams. Yams recently passed away from a drug overdose and it has affected everyone who was close to Yams and anyone who just likes Hip-Hop. It seems that the tour life can be the downfall of many young musicians and those that have easy access to detrimental psychoactive substances. It pains me to think that touring and fame can make the death of young individuals a common occurrence. Regardless, this new single is well written and long anticipated.

“Sometimes I wish Yams was never usin’ / When we toured the U.K. I knew I’d lose him / He went to rehab a year before and he seen improvement / But the fame and access is what abused him / But he in heaven now and I know God’ll use him.”
Tatted Angel is produced by none other than Hit-Boy and it is an atmospheric introspective track. The emotion from Ferg in this track is ever present and ever depressing. However, there is a silver lining in Ferg’s sadness over the loss of Yams: he has been working through this struggle, producing, and touring incessantly but most importantly; his sophomore album will be released in the first quarter of 2016.

Ferg’s sophomore album will be called “Always Strive and Prosper” he released this information via Hot.97 when asked about what is going on with his impending release he responded with, “I can tell you the name of the album, the name of the album is Always Strive and Prosper,” he said. “[I’m] takin’ it back to the A$AP roots where we come from, that’s what A$AP stands for.“

The cover art for the single is a black and white version of a large canvas work A$AP Ferg did about a month ago as a tribute to A$AP Yams.
