It’s a given that there is an ever-widening arena for trap, mumble rap, and melodic driven hip-hop in the current Urban music landscape. However, it seems that no matter where the landscape of music takes us, lyrical hip-hop will always bogart its own space.
Thriving within its own structure in the industry, that is precisely what Flatbush Brooklyn native O Dawg proves with his arduous new release ‘Fortress.’
Impressively clocking in at just under three minutes, Fortress by O Dawg delivers a never ending barrage of vicious punchlines and elaborate bars over the ‘Street Fighter’ theme song reminiscent of production provided by VCTR Bryce. This track is a hip-hop purist’s dream and establishes expert lyrical wordplay and composition at the forefront, rather than simply incorporating it in for added appeal.
This single serves as the first solo release from O Dawg since his recent Improvement And Profit EP which he dropped back in August. The Flatbush MC shares Fortress as a prelude to his upcoming collaborative EP with producer VCTR Bryce titled B2.
O Dawg & VCTR Bryce are both a part of the up and coming New York collective Krookz that include trending artists such as Najjee, Malvo, Dee Damier & more. The collective also just released a thirteen track collaborative effort dubbed the Krookz Tape: Before The Fame that is chock full of hearty rhymes and beast coast flows.
